October 2013 - Downey, California has neighborhoods that are considered a step up for low-income Californians and a location where they try to survive just so their children can attend better schools. This step up comes with a price and means a higher cost of living, but so many parents are willing to make that sacrifice for the future of their child. The Downey Unified School District was in desperate need of shoes and hygiene items to service the many families they support. To help fulfill this need, we gathered over 100 of our closest 4Life family members throughout Southern California to make this wish a reality , and donated 200 back-to-school kits that included a hardbound book, shoes, underwear, socks, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and more to the TLC Family Resource Center, which supports low-income students in the Downey Unified School District.
