Backpacks for Kids in Downey, California

(July 2014) Foundation 4Life provided 150 backpacks filled with school supplies to the Downey Unified school district in Downey, California for students in need. The event attracted many excited distributors, such as Platinum International Diamonds Dave and Gabriela Daughtrey and Gold International Diamonds Renaldo and Lymari Sánchez, Kim Ferguson, Julio Cesar Rodríguez, and Byron López. The backpacks were filled with binders, notebooks, pens, colored pencils, crayons, rules, folder, erasers, and more. Feed the Children donated storybooks for children in elementary and junior high school. This is the second donation to the Downey Unified School district as part of Foundation 4Life’s relationship with the TLC (True Lasting Connections) program to help needy families in Downey. Throughout the school year, Foundation 4Life supports the TLC center by donating sweaters, hygiene kits, safety items, and school supplies. When families struggle with income instability, divorce, immigration, and other challenges, kids often find it difficult to keep up with school responsibilities and social interactions. “We had the privilege and opportunity to assemble backpacks for kids that will be attending school. We are super happy to be a part of this service team,” commented Gold International Lymari Sánchez. “I was surprised to learn that there are still families sleeping on the streets or in their cars. These families need us. This event was a demonstration of the love that we give to these kids. We are so happy to be a part of Foundation 4Life,” said Gold International Renaldo Sánchez.
