Breast Cancer Walk, United States

Thousands of people in more than a dozen cities walk 60 miles in three days to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. Each participant is asked to raise $2,200. The event attracts novice and seasoned athletes - and, of course, breast cancer survivors, their families and friends. Each person walks at his or her own pace, cheered on by hundreds of well wishers. This weekend of hope honors women who have lost their lives to breast cancer and celebrates survivors. Proceeds from the event benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
